Get in the know…Skin Treatments

  • Why a laser?

We use light to penetrates the top layer of skin. The lights energy seals small blood vessels, breaks up melanin pigment, destroys hair follicles, and stimulates cells to produce new collagen and reduces wrinkles. Then we give the body 3-4 weeks to perfect the changes. There are cheaper treatments out there but we believe in giving you the highest medical quality treatment.

  • Down time?

After our photofacial, hair removal and scar/stretch mark treatments you can return to your normal activity (because we know you don’t have time for down time). You may notice some redness for 24-72 hours.

  • Good fit?

Skin types can be deceiving so it is best to do a consult with one of our experts. We want you to receive the best results so we recommend avoiding being in extended amounts of sun for some procedures (hair removal, XX).

  • How many?

More extensive damage or certain skin types may take longer to reach your goals. Most people receive beautiful results in three to five treatments.

Improvements in wrinkles and fine lines will typically last for 1-2 years

  • Pain?

Facial treatments may have a stinging sensation similar to a snap of a rubber band. While most people tolerate this well there is a numbing cream that can be applied prior to the procedure. The sensation typically fades within a few hours.

  • Risks?

The 1450 laser is very safe. Common side effects include: mild redness (which usually can be covered with make-up) and darkening of age spots (which can last up to a week before fading away). Rare side effects include burning, blistering, and extra pigmentation on the skin. These usually resolve in a week.

prep for your wellness testing

  • For Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing avoid eating or caffeine in the 4 hours before and exercise for 24 hours before testing.

  • To get the most out of your VO2 Max Test, refrain from exercise or endurance training for 24-hours prior to test. Avoid food, tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine for at least 3 hours before testing, and continue medications as usual.

  • For Cryo-compression wear comfy clothes that wont restrict the body part being treated. Athletic clothing works best.

  • Gait analysis can be done with little prep. If looking to perfect your normal run, come on rested legs. If you are exploring a pain issue it may be beneficial to do it on fatigued legs. Make sure to discuss your goals with Dr. Bedgood.
